The Work

Picking Vegetables is not the most glamorous job, but it can still earn the Backpacker $125 plus a day for that diving trip, boat trip etc that you came to Australia to experience. Picking vegetables is a good way to lose weight and tone up. The farm works 7 days a week. As we are the employers work is guaranteed and we aim to provide workers with an average 35 to 40 hours a week after the first training week. Vegetable picking is physically demanding so being fit and healthy will help you work more effectively. Once on the farm no transport is required

- No Hat No Play
- This farm has a strict safety policy for the protection of all employees

What you need:

  • A good average level of fitness - start doing some sit-ups, squats and back exercises a couple of weeks before you start as you are going to use muscles you have never used before
  • A Hat
  • Old clothes - long pants and long sleeve shirts
  • Long socks to cover your arms - the plants are scratchy
  • A water bottle to hold at least 1.5 ltrs
  • Sunscreen
  • 2 pair of working shoes because of the morning dew
  • A good attitude to hard work will make your job easy
